Asia Racing Team confirms to enter Formula Pacific Series 2011

Although BMW Motorsport have decided to axe the Formula BMW Series in 2011, Asia Racing Team will add the replacement series to its race programmes next season. The most successful Racing Team and Racing School of Southeast China will continue to offer one of the most complete packages in taking drivers from karting to the junior formulas.

The Formula BMW Pacific Series will be continuing in an independent form in 2011, Motorsport Asia, the Organiser and promoter of the Series since its inception in 2003, has been hard at work putting plans in place for next season as Formula Pacific Series.

Asia Racing Team joined Formula BMW Pacific Series ranks for the first time in 2008 Macau Grand Prix, having done the two most important events of the 2009 season - Singapore and Macau. In 2010 the Zhuhai Circuit based team campaigned full season for the first time.

Speaking about the team's newest challenge, Team Manager Philippe Descombes commented, "Asia Racing Team is delighted to be able to support the series and promote the grass roots development of our sport in Asia. The Formula Pacific Series will continue to represent a great leap forward in the search for, and the development of, Asian racing talents to become future world champions. We are looking forward to field two cars full time in 2011, and a possible third car in selected events."

Asia Racing Team's PR & Marketing Manager, Sergio Fonseca added, "we all know that it is impossible to replace the loss of BMW Motorsport support but, unquestionably the new series will be great value for the money. We are working together with region's most successful and experienced motorsport promoter. The 2011 events will continue to excel and inspire, and the TV coverage package in place is of a high standard. The drivers will have all the ingredients to generate sponsorship".

Motorsport Asia has received huge interest for the recently announced 2011 Formula Pacific Series. To date 34 applications have been received from various teams who have confirmed their intention to participate in the 2011 season.
