Meritus Grand Prix's Pasin eager to race again after long break

KUALA LUMPUR (SEPT 2, 2010): After a close to four-month break, Malaysia's most successful motorsports team Meritus Grand Prix is back in action in the Formula BMW Pacific. After the Malaysian races in May, there was supposed to be four races at the Korean International Circuit from Aug 27-29 but the event was scrapped as the track is still not ready.

As such, the focus is now on Guangdong International Circuit, which will host four races over the weekend.

Meritus GP's Thailand-based driver Pasin Lathouras can't wait for the next four rounds as he has been having the time of his life driving for the defending champion. Pasin, who is making his debut in the championship, has collected 18 points from the first six rounds of the event.

"It has been a good first season but I hope to make it even better by collecting more points in the next four races in China," said Pasin, who during the long break, was a Youth Ambassador for the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Greece.

"I also prepared for the race in China physically according to the Formula BMW programme I was given. I'm looking forward to racing in China as I haven't been there before."

He added he has been working with the team's engineers and mechanics to get the right set-up for the weekend races.

"I'm more familiar with the car and I believe I would be able to adapt to the circuit pretty well. I expect the set up of the car to be well balanced so that I would be able to have good consistency throughout the race," he said.

He said the competition from the guest drivers from Europe has made the Formula BMW Pacific very competitive.

"It is a good learning experience for me to race against the drivers from Europe. It will help me to improve my driving abilities.

"From China we head off to Singapore which is a Formula 1 support race. I'm looking forward to that race as it will be my first time racing on a street circuit."
