STOREY TO MAKE UK RACE DEBUT THIS WEEKEND
New Zealand will be represented in yet another top-level international motor racing series this weekend as Auckland 18-year-old Dominic Storey suits up for a one-off appearance in the Formula BMW UK Challenge series at Oulton Park.
Storey, who impressed in his rookie year in the Formula BMW Asia series last year, and finished fourth in the New Zealand Grand Prix race at Invercargill's Teretonga Park earlier this year, has been in the UK since the beginning of the year working in a testing capacity with the Double R Racing team.
The former kart star will drive the Double R Racing team's Formula BMW single-seater in BMW Sauber F1 Team Pit Lane Park livery to preview the team's high-tech entertainment facility which will be launched at the British Formula 1 grand Prix meeting at Silverstone next month.
Double R Racing is the team set up by Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen and Steve and David Robertson. The team won last year's British Formula 3 championship and Macau F3 GP with Mike Conway behind the wheel and this year expanded into the Formula BMW UK Challenge where team driver Josef Kral is currently lying third overall.
