Formula BMW USA Driver Philip Major fine after Saturday crash
Philip Major endures a long, wet day at Mosport
TORONTO, ONTARIO Formula BMW USA driver Philip Major was fairly upbeat after qualifying 13th for round 13 of the Formula BMW USA series race at Mosport. "I think we are right there," the Ottawa driver said. "I know we have something left in the car, and I feel we can move forward in the race."
Saturday brought with it rain lots of it. Drivers couldn't see where they were going, and Major was holding his own in the early part of the race, while drivers around him were leaving the track and hitting things. Major came into turn two and his FBMW just went off the road and into the turn two wall hard.
Major got out of the car under his own power, but a sore neck sent him to the Bowmanville hospital for x-rays. "Philip is fine," recounted his father on the way back from the hospital after the x-rays proved to be negative. Now Major will focus on tomorrow's season finale, where he hopes to end the season on a good note.
The Atlantic Racing Team was busy repairing Major's car so he can compete tomorrow and they are sure that Major will have a better day tomorrow.
