PLANO, Texas -- The Boardwalk Ferrari racing team heads to Sonoma Raceway at Sears Point this weekend to compete in the second round of the 2014 Ferrari Challenge North America, after nearly a three month break from competition. Ferrari Challenge is the world’s premier single-marque auto racing series.

“The Boardwalk Ferrari team is ready for the challenges ahead at Sonoma Raceway,” said Nathan Dunning, Boardwalk Ferrari Team Principal. “After a successful start to the season at Daytona, the team is anxious to get back out there and compete.”

Boardwalk Ferrari has two drivers scheduled to compete this weekend at Sonoma. John Taylor will pilot his No. 44 Boardwalk Ferrari 458 Challenge, while Jean-Claude Saada will again take command of his No. 61 Boardwalk Ferrari 458 Challenge car.

The 2014 season got off to a great start for the Boardwalk Ferrari Challenge Team, as Scott Tucker piloted the No. 55 Level 5 Boardwalk Ferrari 458 Challenge car to a victory in race one of the opening round of the North American Ferrari Challenge Series at Daytona International Speedway.

Starting from the third row, Tucker jumped out to an early lead in the race and never looked back. Tucker held off Ricardo Perez (Ferrari of Houston) to secure the victory. It was a milestone for Tucker, as he earned his 100th career race victory.

In race number two at Daytona, both Tucker and Saada claimed top 10 finishes for Boardwalk Ferrari in their respective classes — Tucker in the 458TP class and Saada in 458CS class.

The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is one of the most popular one-make series, in part because it brings together complete track novices and those who already have competition experience. The former have their own class — Coppa Shell (458CS) — while the latter race in the Trofeo Pirelli (458TP) both with a title up for grabs. The combined race events make for an unrivaled race experience with incredible competition.

Plano, Texas-based Boardwalk Ferrari has served the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 2004. The dealership has also long participated in the Ferrari Challenge series and has enjoyed a great deal of success. In 2009, Boardwalk Ferrari captured the Ferrari Challenge Dealer's Championship in a season that saw Tucker score an unprecedented 10 victories, the most in Ferrari Challenge history. In 2008, Tucker racked-up four victories in six Ferrari Challenge races, finishing second overall in the final standings.

The series takes to the 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course of Sonoma Raceway at Sears Point April 25-28. The drivers take to the track for the first of two 35-minute races at 2:15 p.m. PT on Saturday, April 27. The second race will take place Sunday, April 28, at 2:20 p.m. PT.
