TECHNICAL DISQUALIFICATION AFTER TWO GOOD RACES

GP2-racing driver Ho-Pin Tung had no other choice than to accept the scrutineers' verdict that took his Trident car out of the Dubai's second race results. His car was declared illegal according to the regulations. After two good races, with 10th and 5th places, disappointment was the only feeling left for the young Chinese racing driver. In Dubai's first race on Friday he finished 10th after a strong race from 17th position on the grid. Ho-Pin had a good pace and overtook seven colleagues. In Saturday's second race things went even better. A canon ball start gave him soon P4 in the race. At the finish line he was 5th and with this result he scored another two points for the Championship. The technical disqualification took away his result, his points and his joy in Dubai.

Ho-Pin Tung commented: 'At the technical scrutineering after the race it was found that my car's right hand side skirt was too low. During Race 1, on Friday Ho-Pin did well. He was able to lead for several laps, but finished at P11. His position at the head of the bunch Ho-Pin thanked to the pit stop strategy of his team, which called him in very late. His lap times were good, in the light laps just before pitting, as well as afterwards. Coming from 17th place on the grid, 10th was the maximum result. After the first race Ho-Pin's front tyres were worn out, proving that he had to struggle with understeer a whole race long. During the second race this was a bit better with even better lap times as a result. Ho-Pin sparked off and managed to get to fourth place. He fought a heavy battle with Jerome d' Ambrosio for third place, but had to settle for fourth. He was overtaken 'under yellow' by the Italian Vasecchi. Also other drivers saw this offense, but no official report from the marshals showed up. Ho-Pin therefore did not get back his fourth place and stayed fifth, with two valuable championship points. Until the scrutineering--..
