The Spaniard, who also finished eighth in the Macau Grand Prix earlier this month, will also drive for the team on the third and final of the day of the test on Friday.

He replaces GP3 driver Alex Palou, who made his GP2 test debut on Wednesday for Campos alongside Formula 3.5 racer Egor Orudzhev, who remains on board for the second day of the test.

Elsewhere, McLaren protege Nyck de Vries joins the Rapax line-up on Thursday, and will stay on for the final test day as well, having travelled from testing an Audi DTM car at Jerez.

He replaces Luca Ghiotto, who switches to Arden for day two in place of GP2 runner-up Antonio Giovinazzi.

Other major moves for Thursday's running include Jordan King moving across to partner Sergio Sette Camara at MP Motorsport, Chris Hoher taking the British driver's place at Russian Time.

Callum Ilott, meanwhile, stands in for Nobuharu Matshushita at ART Grand Prix.

Racing Engineering, DAMS, Trident, Carlin and Prema will all run the same drivers as on Wednesday.

Hubert, Maini join ART for second GP3 test day

Among the notable changes on the entry list for the second day of GP3 testing are Antoine Hubert and Arjun Maini joining ART, replacing George Russell and Nirei Fukuzumi.

Maini spent the opening day with Trident, who will instead run Santino Ferrucci (moving across from DAMS) and Matheus Leist (moving from Arden) on day two alongside Giuliano Alesi and Ryan Tveter.

Dorian Boccolacci, meanwhile, switches from Arden to DAMS for day two, and will be joined at the French team by series regular Tatiana Calderon and Tarun Reddy, who spent the opening day with Koiranen GP. The Indian driver's place is taken by Raoul Hyman.

Arden itself will run Kevin Jorg and Steijn Schothorst alongside Red Bull-backed Niko Kari on day two.

Only Jenzer and Campos maintain an unchanged line-up for Thursday.
