Bianchi on podium, Bortolotti fifth this Monza Saturday
Monza, 11 September -- Once qualifying was over for the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix, it was the turn of the junior formulae to have their first races on this busy weekend. Two youngsters from the Maranello based Ferrari Driver Academy were in action, Jules Bianchi in the ninth round of the GP2 series and Mirko Bortolotti in the eighth GP3 round of the season. Having taken pole yesterday, France's Bianchi, driving for the Art Grand Prix team finished second to his team-mate Sam Bird and ahead of third placed Oliver Turvey driving for the Sport International team, in an incident packed race.
In GP3, Bortolotti started from seventeenth on the grid at the wheel of one of the three Addax Team cars and staged an exciting climb up the order, managing to make up no less than twelve places, ending up fifth. The race was won by Esteban Gutierrez (Art Grand Prix) ahead of Paul Wickens (Status Grand Prix) and Rio Haryanto (Manor Racing.)
The second and final races for both series gets underway tomorrow, starting at 9.25.
