Jake Dennis took the lead after the first 15 minutes of the session and the Arden driver was first to go below the 1m35s barrier with his next flyer.

Dennis was nearly demoted by Antonio Fuoco at the 20 minute mark but the Italian made a mistake at the final turn and fell less than a tenth short.

However, the Ferrari junior took the lead shortly afterwards, only to be demoted by Jake Hughes a couple of minutes later.

Parry soon took over out front and, despite temporarily dropping behind Fukuzumi, it was the Welshman topping the session in the end.

Fukuzumi settled for second, 0.027s adrift, with Charles Leclerc bringing a second ART car into the top three.

The Monegasque beat fellow Ferrari junior Antonio Fuoco by just four thousandths, while Matevos Isaakyan edged out Alex Albon and Hughes for fifth place by 0.004s and 0.005s respectively.

The top 10, separated by less than four tenths, was completed by Nyck de Vries, Dennis and Arjun Maini.
