Andretti scoops Amlin partnership for season two campaign

The Andretti Formula E team has secured a significant partnership with global insurance company Amlin today, in a deal that will see the cars compete in its familiar blue livery.

The deal will see the four Andretti Formula E cars race in a livery incorporating the colours of Amlin, which became familiar last season with the Aguri team after it scored a victory in Buenos Aires with Antonio Felix da Costa.

Michael Andretti was in London this week to front the official announcement and told Motorsport.com:  “We are excited to have Amlin onboard with our Andretti Formula E team. It's great to have a sponsor who activates the way they do on social media and we feel it is a great fit for us and our brand."

CEO of Amlin, Charles Philipps, said at the launch in London: “Amlin and Andretti were quick to spot the potential of Formula E. Both organisations are data driven and tech-focused, meaning there is much to look forward to over the coming seasons.”

Andretti drivers still fluid

Andretti has submitted the names of Simona de Silvestro and Jean-Eric Vergne to the FIA as season two entries, but the line-up could be subject to change ahead of the new campaign.

Motorsport.com reported back in May that Vergne was talking to several teams in the paddock, DS Virgin included. The French ace is also likely to be playing a waiting game in order to keep open his Formula 1 ambitions with the Haas F1 team.

Motorsport.com also revealed earlier this summer Amlin’s surprise split from the Aguri team. The matters regarding the divorce between the two parties are believed to have been settled at high-level meetings over the Battersea Park weekend.

Andretti Formula E team will continue its testing of the newly-named Andretti ATEC 01 at Donington Park next week.
