Buemi sweeps final day of Formula E pre-season

Reigning champion Sebastien Buemi ended the final day of Formula E pre-season test on top, further lowering the category's lap record at Donington Park.

The Swiss driver's time of 1m28.910s, set in the morning session, was 0.286s quicker than Jean-Eric Vergne's time from Tuesday - which had then stood as the record.

Meanwhile, Vergne himself bettered his prior record time to go 0.087s quicker in the Techeetah, his best Wednesday time likewise set in the morning session.

Both drivers though were unable to improve on their times in the afternoon session but remained first and second overall, with Nicolas Prost ending up third with a time of 1m29.205s.

Behind the top three, DS Virgin's Sam Bird was a further 0.077s from Prost, with Dragon's Loic Duval slotting in fifth.

Abt's Schaeffler Audi Sport's Daniel Abt was sixth, having set his best time in the morning session, ahead of Dragon's Jerome d'Ambrosio.

DS Virgin's Jose Maria Lopez was eighth overall, with a late crash for Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport's Lucas di Grassi meaning the Brazilian was unable to improve on his time, ending the day ninth.

Ma Qing Hua completed the top 10 in a highly competitive sessions, which saw several lead change throughout the day.

Three drivers were hit with a 30-minute penalty during the afternoon session. Vergne and Ma were penalised for hitting bollards, while Lopez was handed a penalty for overtaking under red flags.
