Former DTM winner Lohr joins Venturi Formula E team

Ellen Lohr, the only woman to have won a DTM race, has joined the Venturi Formula E team as Marketing Manager.

Lohr, who won a DTM race at Hockenheim in 1992, is among several new key appointments at the Monegasque team, which runs Maro Engel and Stephane Sarrazin in the all-electric championship.

“I have followed Formula E right from the beginning and I’m proud of having been offered the opportunity to work for Venturi GP in this revolutionary series,” said Lohr, who attended the last round of the championship in Marrakesh.

The new personnel announcements at Venturi come after former commercial chief Jim Wright switched to the Mahindra Formula E team earlier this week.

Wright's replacement at Venturi will be Michael Kiilerich. The Dane joins the team from outside the motorsport industry.

The third new member of the Venturi Formula E team is Birgitt Dietel, who was previously the head of communications at the Lutz Bernau FIA European Truck Racing Championship squad, with which Ellen Lohr competed with in 2015 and 2016.

“We thank Jim Wright for the successful cooperation,” said Venturi owner Gildo Pallanca Pastor. “In the build-up period and the first two seasons he was an important part of our team.

"With the increasing public interest in the Formula E Championship in general and the increasing number of our partners, boosting our marketing and communication efforts is of major importance.

"With Ellen Lohr, Birgitt Dietel and Michael Kiilerich we now can rely on the services of a great team and feel well prepared for the things to come.”
