Formula E in Uruguay: Smalltalk from the paddock

Motorsport on the fourth Advent weekend: the third round of the FIA Formula E starts at Punta del Este on Saturday (December 19). ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport and Lucas di Grassi travelled to Uruguay as championship leaders. Despite warm temperatures, something like Christmas cheer was in evidence before race day.

Hans-Jürgen Abt's team got in the mood for the race weekend in Punta del Este during an evening meal. The mechanics, engineers and racing drivers gathered in relaxed surroundings for juicy steaks and cold drinks on Wednesday. "Thank you for your incredible commitment throughout he entire season and now with Christmas just around the corner let us begin the festive period with a feeling of success," Team Boss Hans-Jürgen Abt thanked and motivated his crew.

Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi used their visit to Punta del Este to learn the fine art of preparation at one of the most popular restaurants in the city. The actual stopover originally considered as a PR appointment lasted much longer: in the end, the two racing drivers wished to savor their tasty tenderloin cuts.

Big interest for Formula E among the Brazilian media

Lucas di Grassi organized a press conference himself to introduce the Brazilian media to Formula E in South America. In the Audi Lounge in São Paulo, he explained to a good 40 journalists about the fascinating electric racing series. At the same time, he gave the guests a review of last season's FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and showed first images of the new Audi sportscar. In addition to his commitment to Formula E, di Grassi competes as an Audi factory driver in the WEC and in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Teams remain in Punta del Este for a joint test day

Rarity on the calendar: every team stays an extra day in Punta del Este for the only joint test day during the current season. Team ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport also aims to work through an extensive program with its drivers Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi in the six-hour session on Sunday.

Daniel Abt visits VfL Wolfsburg

Racing driver and racecar on unusual terrain: on the weekend before the first South American Formula E race, Daniel Abt visited VfL Wolfsburg's final home match before the winter break. On his electric racer, which was on display in the stadium, Abt talked about his experiences and the fascination of motorsport and Formula E. The club is partner of the race team and present with its logo on all the cars.
