Former Red Bull, Toro Rosso and HRT Formula One racer Vitantonio Liuzzi will replace Michela Cerruti at Jarno Trulli’s Formula E team, as she has decided to withdraw her participation for “professional reasons”.
Cerruti said on Twitter she is leaving the series after a very tough couple of days.
"I'm extremely sorry to inform you that I stop here my experience in Formula E," said Cerruti.
"I regret to inform you so late and close to the race, but unfortunately for several reasons, including some events of last days there aren't now conditions to go on with this electric adventure.
"Thank you anyway to Trulli for involving me in an excellent championship like this and I do [hope] them the best of luck for the rest of the season.
"These days have been very difficult for me."
Liuzzi, who is yet to drive a Formula E car, was on holiday when he got a last-minute call from team owner Jarno Trulli.
"I'm very happy about this nice opportunity to race with Jarno," said Liuzzi. "I was here on holiday when I got a call from Jarno asking if I wanted to race for the team, of course I said yes.
"It's a privilege to be racing with such a long time friend and it will be very nice to be in the same team. The first big task will be to find a race suit! Don't be surprised if you see me in one of Jarno's helmets."
