With the presence of Andretti Autosport on the grid of Formula E since the beginning, it was just a matter of time before the current representative of the family got his chance in the seat.
In the fourth round of Formula E that takes place this Saturday in an urban circuit in Buenos Aires, Marco Andretti will make his debut at the wheel of one of his father’s cars.
I'm not sure what to expect, but that's the exciting part.
Marco Andretti
Answering the question of what brought him to Formula E, Marco Andretti was sincere saying to Motorsport.com that “the fact of driving in the offseason of IndyCar attracted me. It doesn't matter what it is, I'll drive it”.
The IndyCar star quickly recognized the unique technology you'll see in Formula E cars: “Obviously there is some interesting technology going on here and I thought the opportunity was perfect. Besides, anything is better than sitting at home right now”, he admitted.
“I'm not sure what to expect, but that's the exciting part. I'm not sure what we're up against”, Andretti said regarding the machine he’ll drive this weekend.
In a series that already has big names of motorsport such as Prost, Senna and Piquet, the entrance of Andretti is great for the series, and Marco expects to have continuity when the series flies to the United States to race in Miami in March and Long Beach in April. Surely the fans would appreciate it.
