Organizers of the inaugural Montréal ePrix are delighted to confirm that the tickets for the double-header of the final round of the 2016/2017 FIA Formula E Championship would go on sale this Saturday, January 21.
Formula E is a category of auto racing that uses only electric-powered single seaters (similar to Formula 1 cars or IndyCars).
Racing enthusiasts, the tech-savvy, environmentalists as well as families can buy tickets starting on January 21st at 10 a.m. on evenko.ca at the affordable cost of $32 per ticket, per day.
Organizers also announced that Patrick Carpentier would be the official spokesperson of the event. Still popular in his home country, Carpentier claimed the 1996 Toyota Atlantic title and took five victories in the CART and ChampCar series.
The Canadian has also competed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck series.
Aged 45, Carpentier’s objective is to raise awreness of the Formula E series and educate both race fans and the public in general on electric vehicles. The Montréal event will be staged over two days - July 29th and 30th - on a 2.75-km, 14-turn street track to be built in the Eastern area of downtown Montréal.
“I’m really excited. I’m already working as a race analyst for some of the Formula E races broadcasted on RDS here in Québec,” Carpentier told Motorsport.com. “I will talk a lot about the Montréal ePrix at the auto shows and on television this year. I want the public in general to understand why this is such a great series. The cars are quite fast, the guys are all paid drivers and there’s keen interest from international sponsors.“
On January 19th, Carpentier will take part in the media day of the Montreal Auto Show, which will welcome guests at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal from January 20 to 29. Note that during the whole Auto Show, a Formula E simulator will give fans the chance to show off their driving skills.
“What’s fascinating is to see so many major car manufacturers getting involved in Formula E. There’s Citroën DS, Renault and then we’ll see Jaguar, Audi, BMW, Mercedes and probably Porsche getting involved. This amazes me. And electric road cars have come a long way. Now there are fully electric supercars on the market that produce stunning performances with great autonomy. These cars are really appealing. That’s the future of road going vehicles,” Carpentier concluded.
Let's not forget that a flurry of other activities will occur in the eVillage and the four eZones of the racing site, at the height of the celebrations of Montréal’s 375th anniversary.
