Prost: Renault F1 return can complement Formula E programme
Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Alain Prost says the mooted purchase by Renault of the Lotus Formula 1 team would link up well with the manufacturer's current Formula E commitments.

“It is not definite and not decided yet and we will have to wait one or two weeks. But it would not change the Formula E programme, and in fact it could be better for Formula E as it is strategic for them,” Prost told Motorsport.com.
“The involvement for Renault in Formula E is very natural as they have been developing electric vehicle technology for many years,” continued the Renault eDAMS co-owner.
“The learning level for the engineers in Formula E is very good, and this is crucial for the next generation of talent. It is also a good internal motivation for Renault and obviously from a marketing point of view as well.
"I can see a Renault F1 and Formula E projects working nicely side by side, it will all be positive if it all happens.”
Formula E reminiscent of bygone F1 era
Prost also spoke about the increasing challenge of Formula E this season and how it compared to his own momentous years in the F1 turbo era.
“It is quite close actually in respect of managing aspects of the car to when I raced in the turbo era of F1,"he said.
"Now you are helped much more with the communication side of things. The big similarity between F1 in the 80s and Formula E now is that the driver actually tells the engineers more about what is going on with the car and all the technology more than the other way around.
"It's challenging for the drivers - although the races are quite short, the effort, both mentally and physically, is great.”
