Both were happy with the two days of testing where they enjoyed uninterrupted running – completing 111 laps, the highest among all the teams.

In his first appearance for the Indian outfit, Heidfeld finished seventh and fourth respectively in the timesheets across the two days.

“I am very happy with these two days of testing,” said new recruit Heidfeld.

“It was a very good day because we managed to try a lot of new things and we got good results for most of it,” he said after the second day of testing.

“Now the engineers will sit down and analyse it and hopefully we can put all the pieces together and improve the car for the second test.

“The car felt good today, there is still room for improvement but that's what testing is for. Reliability is good and compared to some other teams we got a lot of laps in.”

Heidfeld’s teammate Senna too was pleased with Mahindra’s strong run. He finished sixth on both days of testing.

“It has been a very successful two days. We got to learn a lot with both cars,” the Brazilian said.

“In the end we got a bit in trouble with our 200kw laps because of traffic, and so not ideal for the ultimate lap times, but I think we are looking competitive."

Renault e.dams’ Sebastien Buemi topped both days of testing as teams like Trulli, Andretti and NEXTEV TCR suffered numerous reliability issues.
