Villeneuve: No plans after Formula E exit

The team announced last week that the Canadian will not take part in the next race in Buenos Aires, and that he will be replaced by Briton Mike Conway.

Villeneuve competed with the team in the first three rounds of the season, but failed to score any points before leaving the squad.

"I did not leave [Formula E] to switch to another series," Villeneuve told Motorsport.com.

"I have no other plans at the moment. What occurred happened very quickly - I have nothing else to add. Since there were no attacks, I will not defend myself.

"The current situation will allow me to work on other projects. I am a race car driver, and my objective is to race."

He added: "I was very much involved in the project. I introduced several things that are now being used by the team. I was heavily involved, but unfortunately we were not on the same wavelength, period.

"I think things got complicated during the Christmas break, around New Year's day.

"This was obviously a mutual decision. You must always trust the official version of the story. After that, everyone has the right to believes in what he thinks," he added.

Villeneuve suggested that his crash during the latest event in Punta del Este - an accident that meant he was unable to take part in the race - culminated in the split.

"It's always disappointing not to finish a project, especially when it ends so early in the season when there was still so much to do. I did not have the time to settle in," he said.

"That's quite frustrating. We endured several problems during the opening two races of the season, and that limited my seat time. And then I damaged my tub at the third race, which prevented me from racing.

"That situation left everyone dissatisfied. If the relationship is not good, it's better for everyone to focus on their own project. This way, you avoid confrontations. That's all."
