Prema Powerteam, the outfit that won last year’s FIA Formula 3 European Championship title with Esteban Ocon, will again be running a car for a French driver this season. 21-year-old Brandon Maisano secured one of the Dallara-Mercedes cars of the Italian team and will be competing in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, together with Jake Dennis and Lance Stroll, his team-mates who have been confirmed so far.

I know the Prema Powerteam very well and I know that I can develop myself very well here.

Brandon Maisano already raced in the Italian Formula 3 Championship in 2012 and ended up third overall. Then, he stepped down into Formula 4 and won the title in the Trophy Class of last year’s Italian Formula 4. He scored both successes behind the wheel of a car run by the Prema Powerteam. He also remains loyal to this outfit for 2015. “We know Brandon very well and we rate him highly,” Prema Powerteam manager René Rosin says. “After he had to leave Formula 3 due to lack of opportunities in 2013, he relaunched his career in Formula 4 in 2014 and showed his skills with great results. We feel that he deserves a chance in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship and we are confident that he will put in good results there, too.”

Brandon Maisano is well aware of the fact that the step from Formula 4 into the FIA Formula 3 European Championship is big, but he is looking forward to the new challenge. “I am delighted to be racing in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. It is an important step in my career and I will do my utmost to be among the front runners as often as possible. I know the Prema Powerteam very well and I know that I can develop myself very well here.”

The FIA Formula 3 European Championship season gets underway at the Formula 1 circuit of Silverstone, mid-April.
