Italian Antonio Giovinazzi will add another year in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship and has his goal set on the title for this season. To achieve this, the 21-year-old extended his contract with the Jagonya Ayam with Carlin team, for which he already raced last year.
My goal is very clear, I want to become the FIA Formula 3 European Champion.

Last year, Antonio Giovinazzi had two entirely different season halves: in the first one, not everything went according to plan for the Southern-European talent, but once his damaged monocoque had been replaced, he advanced to become a challenger for victories. On two occasions, he stood on the top step of the podium and with a strong run in the closing stage of the season, he still made it to sixth place in the final drivers’ standings.
Now, Giovinazzi wants to carry this momentum into the upcoming season. “My goal is very clear, I want to become the FIA Formula 3 European Champion. I am happy that I can remain loyal to the Jagonya Ayam with Carlin team to do so.”
Team principal Trevor Carlin says: “Antonio will start the season as one of the favourites. In 2014, he really matured as a driver, partly due to some problems, and he showed a strong performance in the closing stages.”
The first FIA Formula 3 European Championship encounter is scheduled for the second weekend of April at Silverstone in the UK.
