Race winner Hector Hurst will make his debut in the prestigious FIA Formula 3 Championship. Hurst joins team mate Felix Serralles with new entrant Team West-Tec who will use Mercedes-Benz power this season to compete for the title.

Last year, the 21-year-old competed in the European F3 Open Championship where he dominated the Nurburgring round, taking pole position and the race win whilst also securing another two podiums later in the season. This stand out performance caught the eye of Team Principle John Miller of Team West-Tec and formed the foundation of this new partnership for 2014.

“This is a great opportunity for me,” said Hurst. “I would like to thank my Manager, Mark Blundell, and also John Miller for putting this deal together. I was able to work with Team West-Tec towards the end of 2013 and really enjoyed it. The chance to compete in the FIA F3 European Championship with Team West-Tec is huge. I can’t wait to get in the car and start testing and for the season to begin.”

John Miller is hopeful of his winning combination; “Hector impressed us highly in 2013 and was always a target to continue with us in 2014. I am sure that he and Felix are both going to be able to challenge at the front and win races for us this year as we have spent a lot of time putting together what we believe are all of the right elements of the package.”

The FIA Formula 3 European Championship is the leading junior category in international single-seater racing and is seen as a stepping stone to Formula 1. The 2014 season commences April 18-19, 2014 at Silverstone.
