Norisring F3: Daruvala scores podium despite slow start
Force India Formula 1 junior Jehan Daruvala recovered from a slow start to score a podium finish in the opening European F3 race of the Norisring weekend.
Daruvala was slow off the line from the front row of the grid, dropping to fourth position by the time he navigated his way through the hairpin.
But once an early safety car - deployed when Carlin teammate Sacha Fenestraz retired after contact with Jonathan Aberdein - pulled into the pits, Daruvala immediately started pressuring Red Bull junior Dan Ticktum for third position.
At the start of lap 10, he made a textbook move at the hairpin to move ahead of the Englishman and then set about chasing Ralf Aron.
While the Indian stayed within 1 second of Aron for rest of the race, he could never quite make a move and had to settle for third position.
It was his second podium finish of the season after another third-place finish in the final Pau race.
