Force India protege Jehan Daruvala will take part in the Dutch round of European Formula 3 at the Zandvoort circuit this weekend.
Daruvala has had a stellar start to his rookie F3 season, having notched one victory and two further podium finishes so far. Last time out in Belgium he showed he can be consistent as well by finishing all three races inside the top five. Although the Mumbaikar has never raced at Zandvoort before, there’s no reason to believe why he can’t be vying for podium spots at the former F1 venue.Aditya Patel will be eying the top spot in this weekend’s Blancpain GT Asia round at Fuji.
Patel has been a regular podium finisher in the newly-launched series, and currently sits third in the championship with 73 points.
Retirements in the previous two rounds (each round consists of two races) have somewhat hampered his title challenge, but a clean weekend could allow him to reduce the 21-point deficit to standings leader Hunter Abbott.
Armaan Ebrahim will take part in the penultimate round of Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, which takes place concurrently to Blancpain at Japan’s Fuji Speedway.
Ebrahim’s season has been plagued by a string of technical issues, but podium finishes in Malaysia and Thailand show that, in terms of pure pace, he’s up there with the very best on the grid.
Should the FFF Racing driver have a trouble-free weekend, expect him to be racing at the sharp end of the pack.
Narain Karthikeyan’s move to Nakajima Racing has backfired so far, primarily because of the Honda-powered squad’s top-speed deficit to rivals with Toyota engines.
With Motegi famous for its long straights, fortunes are unlikely to improve for Karthikeyan this weekend. However, with more technical circuits scheduled later in the season, the former F1 driver can end the year on a high note.
Daruvala will be joined by countryman Ameya Vaidyanathan on the F3 grid this weekend.
The 20-year-old made his series debut at the previous round in Belgium, but couldn’t finish higher than 14th due to lack of experience in the Dallara F317.
With his rivals having far more mileage - both testing and on race weekends - expect another trying weekend for the Carlin driver.
Chennai will play host to the penultimate round of MRF F1600, one of the two premier single-seater championships in India.
Anindith Reddy holds a comfortable 46 point lead over nearest challenger Sandeep Kumar, having won four of the seven races held so far. Kumar is closely followed by Chetan Korada, with Kolkata’s Arya Singh also in the frame.
Three races will be held over the weekend, providing a chance to Kumar, Korada and Singh to close the gap to Reddy.
The new-for-2017 Volkswagen Ameo Cup will also have its penultimate round in Chennai this weekend.
Three-time VW runner-up Karminder Singh has been a class above the rest so far and leads the championship with 216 points, 60 points (one race win) clear of nearest rival Dhruv Mohite.
Sandeep Kumar is another 10 points adrift in third place, with Saurav Bandyopadhyay and Anmol Singh fourth and fifth in the standings.
