Glory returned to César!
After being given a 25-second penalty for cutting across a chicane, César Campaniço (Racing for Belgium) lost victory in the second Eurocup Mégane Trophy race at the Nürburgring. The Stewards have since cancelled this penalty, thus handing victory back to the Portuguese driver.
At the request of César Campaniço, the Stewards analyzed timing data and concluded that no advantage in terms of position or time had been earned by the Mégane no.4 driver. Consequently, the decision of the Race Director has been overturned.
Tech 1 Racing has lodged an appeal against the Stewards' decision.
César Campaniço therefore wins his second race of the season, moving him to within striking distance of Van Lagen in the overall standings.
