Ludwig Ghidi puts strong step towards 2010 title

For three days, Ludwig Ghidi, claimed one of the star roles during the Racing Festival at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The track was new for Ludwig, but he could not make any mistakes in the penultimate weekend of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup (NEC). Ghidi had to expand the lead on his nearest rivals .

In the free practice Ghidi managed to adapt quickly and easily to the new circuit. He drove himself easily to a spot in the top three, despite the presence of several strong drivers from the European Formula Renault championship and the arrival of the reigning Formula BMW champion, Robin Frijns. During the only qualifying heat of the weekend, he took the 7th and 8th place on the grid.

On Saturday afternoon the first confrontation was on the program and Ghidi Ludwig was the first of three races of the weekend of the Belgian Formula Renault 2.0 North European Cup. Ludwig, leader in the championship started as seventh on the grid, but had won six positions in the opening meters and moments later took the lead. "I had a brilliant start and was already second at La Source, a little later on top of the Raidillon I managed to take over the lead. I then played it safe with the title in mind. Guest drivers Genis Olive and Robin Frijns overtook me, but I did not let it bother me. I wanted to score points, said Ludwig.

On Sunday morning it was time for the second race, but Ludwig could not repeat the success of one day earlier. "The car was not very stable so there was no more in it as eighth place. Luckily Mikkel Mac only took a few points back as he finished in sixth place. "The Racing Festival then moved to its end, but the spectacle was not over. The final and third round of this NEC FR 2.0 event again brought a podium. Starting from a third place on the grid Ludwig immediately drove into the lead. Four laps he stayed there too after which Dutchman Robin Frijns living took over , but Ghidi managed to secure his second place to the delight of the team and certainly Ludwig Ghidi himself: "With a second and third place I only miss a victory, but given the fact that Frijns is no opponent in the championship, I did not see the sense of a duel and the associated risk. I wanted to drive smart and go for maximum championship points. Given the eleventh place of Mikkel Mac in the last race, I did the right thing with the final weekend in mind. I will go to the Nurburgring with a good points lead and I really want to win the title.

So Mikkel Mac was eleventh which sees Ludwig Ghidi leave Spa with 41 points more than the Dane. The last meeting of the championship - with three races - will be on October 16 and 17 at the famous circuit Nurburgring in the German Eifel where the title will be decided, Ludwig leaves Spa- Francorchamps extremely satisfied, I did not know the circuit, had never tested here and count two podium places. Now on to Germany for the finals ... "This weekend, Ludwig Ghidi conquered the hearts of the Belgian public and now starts the countdown to the title ...
