METCALFE BACK ON SONG AT SNETTERTON

Jeremy Metcalfe enjoyed a highly competitive pre-event test at Snetterton Circuit today ahead of the 13th and 14th rounds of the Formula Renault UK season which take place at the Norfolk venue over the weekend, 12th/13th August.

The 18-year-old, who is currently fifth overall in the driver standings, is fully focused on making a long overdue return to the podium and particularly keen to qualify well on Saturday during both 20-minute qualifying sessions.

During this morning's opening 50 minutes of official championship testing, the AKA Lemac ace posted the fifth quickest time with a lap of 1m 05.450 seconds (107.36mph) but then lapped two 10ths of a second quicker during the afternoon period to achieve the fourth fastest time overall.

His best lap of the second session, a time of 1m 05.205 seconds (107.77mph), meant the Fleet teenager was the third fastest driver during the afternoon and considering he didn't feel he had fully hooked-up a truly out-and-out quick lap all day, Jeremy heads into the 13th and 14th rounds of the season rightly confident of a brace of good results.

"It's been good today", commented the BillChaser-backed star at the conclusion of the afternoon session, "I didn't put a tidy lap together all day and we were still fast so that's a very good sign ahead of the weekend.

"The car was really good, it was amazing actually and I'm looking forward to qualifying tomorrow as I think we can be very confident of a good result. We do need to try and qualify a little bit better than we have been lately but if the car is as good tomorrow as it has been today, I'm sure we'll be on the front two rows at least."

Qualifying for round 13 of the Formula Renault UK Championship will take place at 09.00 tomorrow, Saturday, 12th August, with the round 14 session expected to begin at 14.20. Both races will follow on Sunday, 13th August, with round 13 timetabled to start at 11.40 and round 14 scheduled to get underway at 15.45.

Motors TV will cover both races live on channel 413 of the Sky Digital platform and via cable supplier NTL on channel 173.
