TOP FIVE FOR BRATT DURING DONINGTON QUALIFYING

Will Bratt will begin round 12 of the Formula Renault UK Championship at Donington Park National Circuit tomorrow, Sunday, 30th July, an excellent fifth on the grid after a highly competitive run in qualifying this afternoon.

The 18-year-old Scorpio Motorsport sensation, who is currently seventh overall in the driver standings, enjoyed a rewarding run during the second of today's two sessions to set the fifth quickest time with a lap of 1m 07.160 seconds (104.91mph).

Starting the race ahead of key title rivals Jeremy Metcalfe and James Sutton, and lining up just behind fellow race-winner Sam Bird, Adderbury-based Will is highly confident of a strong run in the second of tomorrow's races and is aiming to challenge for his fourth top four result of the season.

"I'm looking forward to tomorrow", said Will, "Fifth isn't the place to be on the grid but it's certainly a much better qualifying result than the one we experienced this morning.

"We stiffened the car up for the second session and it worked for us. I wanted to be closer to the pace but heading the third row of the grid is a decent starting position and if we can make a good start I'm confident we'll be able to finish in the top four again."

For round 11, the first of tomorrow's races which starts the day's proceedings at 09.10, the Apotex Pharmaceuticals-backed star will line up 13th on the grid after a more problematic run in today's opening Formula Renault UK qualifying session.

Although posting a lap time just 0.16 seconds slower than the one he achieved during round 12 qualifying, the tiny margin meant the difference between Will being able to start the first of Sunday's races inside the top 10. Nonetheless, he is confident Scorpio will give him a good race car and is bidding to start tomorrow with a very strong result.

Rounds 11 and 12 of the season, which will be broadcast live on Motors TV, are scheduled to take place at 09.10 and 14.20 tomorrow, Sunday, 30th July. Sky Digital viewers will be able to tune in to the race coverage on channel 413 while cable provider NTL will carry the broadcast on channel 173.
