The Briton, who announced this year that he will not be racing in Formula 1 next season, will make his sixth ROC appearance in the Miami event, which takes place on January 21-22.

Button is joined by Race of Champions regular David Coulthard, who will be taking part in the event for the 10th time.

Button's best individual result in the RoC came in 2009, when he was a semi-finalist. He was also a finalist in the Nations Cup alongside Andy Priaulx that year.

"I'm delighted to be coming back to the Race Of Champions once again," said Button.

"It is always a great event with a special atmosphere. You get to race against the best drivers from all over the world and we enjoy our time both on and off the track as we meet old friends from all the different motor sport series.

"The main thing is that everyone wants to put on a good show for the fans – and we only pretend to play it cool before giving it everything when we're revving up the cars on the line.

"I urge race fans to get themselves to Miami in January to enjoy the action up close and personal and to give us a cheer."

Button joins fellow F1 retiree Felipe Massa in the event.

The British racer will also compete against the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kurt Busch and Alexander Rossi among others.
