At Mosport and the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve-- In Touring Car as in F1600, Mathieu and Rémy Audette Earn "Top 4" Positions

Mosport Park (Ontario)/Montréal (Québec), August 29, 2010.- Excellent race results were earned this weekend by brothers Mathieu and Rémy Audette. Entered in the Canadian Touring Car Championship, Mathieu Audette shined at Ontario's Mosports Park, finishing both double-header races in fourth place. His brother Rémy, earned the pole position and a "Top 4" finish in the race on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve for the Formula Tour 1600 competition during the NASCAR weekend's program.

At the Mosport track, where he had won back in June of this year, Mathieu Audette qualified his Dimensions Doors Acura RSX in sixth place before finishing Saturday's race (the first of the double-header) in fourth spot. " We didn't take part in the practice on Friday, which meant that we spent a bit of time on Saturday to find the right set-up. Despite that, taking the start on the third line wasn't so bad because I escaped the big pile-up that happened on the first corner, which forced a stoppage of the race and a second start. " explains Mathieu. During the competition, the Audette Racing driver worked very hard to overcome the small suspension problems before climbing up two positions.

On Sunday, Mathieu Audette took to the start line in fourth place and fought for a podium spot before finishing in the same position in which he started. " I maintained my position at the start and I was able to pass Sasha Anis in his powerful Hyundai Genesis V6. I then kept third spot all the way until the last lap but it was tough to keep Anis behind me because I was having a small overheating problem. I went a little wide and he was able to take advantage of it. Of course I would've liked to finish on the podium but given my mechanical problems, the second 4th place of the weekend is still satisfying. It's a good reward for the team after having worked so hard once again ! " added Mathieu.

On his end, Rémy Audette was racing in the Formula Tour 1600's second-last championship event at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Driving an open-wheel Van Diemen prepared by Britain West Motorsports, Rémy earned an excellent overall result, claiming the fastest time during the practice enabling him to start in pole position.

During the race, the Quebec driver battled for the victory up until five laps before the finish when he was the victim of a spinout. Restarting eighth after his misadventure, Rémy climbed back to cross the finish line in fourth. " Overall, it was a positive time for me because all weekend, or almost all weekend, I was the fastest out there. During the race, I had to work really hard to keep Michel and Olivier Bonnet's Vectors at bay, which were really fast on the straight-aways. " explains Rémy. If the Audette Racing driver contests the complete championship in 2011, he has proven that he could battle for the series victory : " we showed at Trois-Rivières and at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve that we're very competitive, capable of battling for the victory, which was a key point in returning to do a partial program this season " adds Rémy.

At the conclusion of this Formula Tour 1600 event, driver, journalist, and television host Didier Schraenen suffered a heart attack. The entire Audette Racing team, and especially team owner Francois Audette, wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Rémy Audette will be back at the track next weekend in his Formula 2000 Van Diemen to contest the final double header of the F2000 American Championship at Mid-Ohio. " Last year, I came really close to a win on that track. This time, I'm looking for revenge and for the victory. At least finish the F2000 season with a podium ! We'll have a new crew chief with us, Phil Matthews, a very experienced guy who has won numerous F2000 races with Marc-Antoine Camirand in the 1990's; we get along well and I'm convinced he'll be a big help in setting-up our car to battle for the victory " concludes Rémy.

This season, the Audette Racing Team is entering Mathieu Audette in the Canadian Touring Car Championship and his brother Rémy Audette in a partial open wheel program consisting of Formula Tour 1600 and the American Formula 2000 series. The team's next outing is set for Mid-Ohio on September 4 and 5 (Rémy will participate in F2000) followed by the final Canadian Touring Car Championship event at Mirabel's ICAR circuit on September 11 and 12 (Mathieu racing).
