Castrol Canadian Touring Car Return to Indy

The Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Toyo Tires is proud to return for Round 5 of the series after the one year hiatus to the Honda Indy Toronto in the Acura Sports Car Challenge with nearly 50 cars entered in two distinct classes, Touring and Super Touring.

Canada's Best Drivers Racing Today's Hottest Touring Cars will be on hand for all three days of this exciting race weekend in downtown Toronto with an open practice and qualifying session following up with two 30 minutes races that are sure to give the fans a glimpse of intense professional Canadian road racing.

Super Touring Class points leader Richard Boake piloting his potent Subaru WRX STi will attempt to defend his lead against a large field of competitors that grew even bigger during the off-season. Watch for NorthWest Value Partners Greg Pootmans & 8 Legs Racing driver Arek Wojciechowski try to make their way up the point's ladder as well as Lombardi Honda's Nick Wittmer. Auto Analyser sponsored driver Andrew Wojteczko is coming off three wins in a row and is currently third in points overall.

In the highly competitive Touring Class, Thornhill native Anthony Rapone will be pulling out all the stops in his Honda Civic Si to keep rivals Acura Integra driver Nigel Heron & Alain Lauziere's MINI Cooper at bay. Up until now these three competitors have swapped positions atop the podium over the last four events. The Touring Class is deep and filled with a lot of racing talent, Betz Pools Racing's father & son team Frank & Ryan Blanchet, Roger Bowes in his Acura, Bully Clutches Patrick Seguin piloting a Civic and Quebec native Joycelyn Fecteau and his Toyota Corolla are all potential contenders for the class championship.

This weekend starts Friday morning at 8:00am sharp for the championship when the Number 7 Honda 2009 Honda Accord pace car will take the drivers on to Toronto's famed street course for a reconnaissance pace lap before the 30-minute practice. Both classes will be qualifying later in the day from 4:15 to 4:45pm and the green flag for first race of the weekend drops Saturday afternoon at 3:15. The feature race will begin at 10:00am Sunday for 30 minutes where the two classes will be putting on the "show" of the weekend with no less than 48 cars.
