DTC: Series Jyllandsringen summary

To times Seat in DTC at FDM Jyllandsringen 2Jens Møller claimed their first and eleventh DTC wins respectively

Round four of the Danish Touringcar Championship at FDM Jyllandsringen resulted in wins for the two Seat teams present at the circuit with Jens Møller claiming his maiden overall win in the series in the first race, while former champion Jason Watt ended up with his eleventh win in the championship.

The Seat Leon pair had started their battle in qualifying, where Jens Møller claimed his first ever pole position by a margin of 0.2 second to Jason Watt, while Casper Elgaard was the top driver in the rear wheel drive brigade in his BMW 320si E90.

At the start of the first race, Jens Møller opened up a gap to Jason Watt, Casper Elgaard and Robert Schlunssen, but soon this was erased, when a safety car was deployed as a couple of drivers further down the field had run off the circuit. At the restart Jens Møller not only defended his lead, but again managed to build up a cushion to Jason Watt who at various times in the race got under pressure from Casper Elgaard. However, the former Le Mans LMP2 winner could not find a way past him.

At the front Jens Møller crossed the finishing line 0.7 second in front of Jason Watt to claim his first overall win since joining the series back in 2002.

With the top drivers being reversed for the grid of the second race, the opening laps were expected to be filled with some drama and overtaking, as Jens Møller et al should make their way to the front, but instead the eventual winner got in front into the first corner of the race.

As pole sitter Kim Morgan went off the throttle just as the red lights switched off, Jason Watt and Casper Elgaard put the pedal down to go around the outside of the cars in front of them to take up positions 1 and 2 while Robert Schlunssen held third place.

Jens Møller, however, made a very slow getaway, claiming just one position at the start and only moving up to fourth place at the end of the opening lap. However, his Seat seemed to be the fastest car in the field, as he closed the gap to Robert Schlunssen in third, but as soon as he was on the tail of the BMW, Jens Møller began to loose speed as a consequence of a wrong tyre pressure choice.

Jason Watt held on to his lead, but in the latter part of the race Casper Elgaard got closer, and despite both drivers loosing time while lapping slower cars, the latter could not find a way past the Seat driver. However, Casper Elgaard's second place meant that he has now taken over the lead of the championship.
