Fabián Acuña (Ford) won in the twelfth round of Turismo Carretera disputed in Balcarce over 24 laps. This is victory number 16 for him and the first since May 13th. 2001 in Río Cuarto. Long time waited Acuña without a win in T.C.

The race had a great start with Iglesias (Ford), Acuña and Occhionero (Ford) fighting for the first position. However the engine problems in both Fords of Iglesias, in lap five, and Occhionero, in lap eighteen get the things more easy for the leader. He took a little difference with the second, Omar Martínez (Ford). But the entered of the Pace Car in lap 18 gave to the race an unexpected final. During the last four laps there was a lot of fight between Acuña, Martínez, Silva (Ford), Aventín (Ford) and Tadei (Ford).

The end of the race showed Diego Aventín in the second position after passed Martínez and Silva in the last two laps. Silva finished fourth followed by Tadei, Catalán Magni (Ford) and Cristián Ledesma, the best Chevrolet in the Ford party.

After the race Acuña said: ¨It was a very hard race. The car was just fantastic. The entered of the Pace Car complicated me because I have made a little distance to the second but that erased all the differences in the track. I want to dedicate this victory is for my sponsors, the team and for all the Ford`s fans¨.

Diego Aventín completed a very positive weekend. On Saturday he qualified fifteen. In his series he finished fifth. The young driver, who on Saturday celebrated his birthday number 22, started the final race thirteenth. In the fifth lap he was already ninth and trying to advance more positions. After twenty laps disputed Aventín, who is the maximum winner this season with three victories, was fighting for a place in the podium with J.M. Silva. In the last lap, Diego took advantage from a distraction of Martínez and passed him to finished second and be back in the top three of a race of Turismo Carretera.

The third finisher, Omar Martínez took an important result for the championship. Martínez qualified third on Saturday and he finished second in his series behind Fernando Iglesias. The four times winner in this circuit started the final race fourth and with the idea of try to get his fifth victory in Balcarce. Martínez made a race from less to more. In lap five he was third benefited by the problems in Iglesias`car. Then the problems came to Occhionero and Martínez advanced to second position. He tried everything to pass Acuña but it was impossible. In the final lap, Martínez low the speed because of the people in the track and Aventín passed him.

After the podium, Martínez, who was unhappy with the decision of the stewards of no stop the race a lap before in spite of the people in the circuit He lost five important points for the championship with this situation. ¨I always took goods results from Balcarce. In the last lap I saw people in the chicane so I passed very carefully, when I accelerate Diego had already passed me. The A.C.T.C. must control the fans, some day it will be a tragedy¨ said Martínez

It wasn`t a good weekend for the Chevrolet` fans. Guillermo Ortelli arrived to this race with 19.50 points of difference with the second. Now he left with Aventín two points behind and Martínez five.

The problems for Ortelli started on Saturday in the qualify session with the engine. He finished with no time registered. In his series he finished eleventh which make him started the final race twenty- ninth.

After this race Ortelli keep leading the championship with 169 points, near followed by Diego Aventín 167, Omar Martínez 162, Marcos Di Palma, who doesn` t compete a good race, 138,50 and J.M. Silva with 133,50.

The next race of Turismo Carretera will be in October 6th. in Bahía Blanca, a new circuit for the category.
