Dittmann with Strong Showing in Season Finale at Brands Hatch

Tewkesbury racer Chris Dittmann was competing again last weekend at the final meeting of the season at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent. The championship is part of the support package for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The Saturday qualifying session took place in misty conditions and this led to an unbelievably close qualifying session where a time only 0.062 (62 thousands of a second) off pole position put Dittmann only 4th on the grid.

The first race on Saturday was an intense battle for the lead with lap times by the top three, Carl Breeze, Benji Hetherington and Chris Dittmann deviating by only one or two tenths of a second per lap. After nineteen laps Dittmann crossed the line in 3rd position with his 6th podium of the season, and only 1 second off the lead.

The first race of two on a sunny finals day saw another close race in race 2 where the top 5 were inseparable throughout the race. Dittmann finished in 4th place which meant with the top 4 reversed he would start the final race of the year in pole position.

With the sun starting to drop the last race of the season started with Dittmann on pole position and after a great start off the line and first few laps, saw him control the first part of the race with the rest of field charging hard behind. After 7 laps Dittmann was setting a comfortable and consistent pace just a few tenths ahead, however, after a suspected creep on the line at the start, I was given a drive-through penalty. Even though this was not the case, and according to the other drivers completely untrue, he had to serve the penalty. This meant he came out of the pits in 14th place but charged back through the field to finish in an impressive 10th position.

As Dittmann commented at the end of the weekend "An unfortunate end to strong weekend with great pace from early on Friday morning. The team did a great job with setup and this showed with the strong pace from myself as well as my teammate Mark Davies"
