CALTEX CARS IN STRONG SHAPE FOR SECOND PARKER ENZED NZ V8S ROUND

The Caltex Racing Ford Falcon V8s of Paul Pedersen and Angus Fogg are in strong shape for the second round of the 2005/06 Parker ENZED NZ V8s Championship at Christchurch's Powerbuilt International Raceway at Ruapuna Park this weekend.

Fogg was the pace-setter at the first round of the 2005/06 series at Pukekohe's Pukekohe Park Raceway at the beginning of the month, putting his newly liveried StarMart car on pole, and he and teammate Pedersen, driving the Caltex Havoline Falcon, played a key role in each race - despite tyre problems which also affected some of the other front runners.

The Caltex pair finished second (Pedersen) and third (Fogg) in the first race, second (Pedersen) and sixth (Fogg) in the second, and tenth (Fogg) and 21st (Pedersen) in the reverse top eight third race to end the day in fourth (Pedersen) and fifth (Fogg)place respectively in the overall series points standings.

Though Pedersen was hit from behind and sent spinning to a stop with the field bearing down on him in the last race, the damage to his car was mostly cosmetic and the multi-talented Fogg - who builds and oversees the engineering of the two Caltex cars for entrant International Motorsport - despatched the cars to Christchurch last week satisfied with their performance and looking forward to another good showing in the first of the Parker ENZED V8 series three South Island rounds.

Though Fogg says that of all the country's circuits Powerbuilt International Raceway is the one he has done the least laps on, he set the second fastest lap time in qualifying at the same event last year and with teammate Pedersen will be one of the drivers vying for pole position this year.

There will be three races for the Parker ENZED NZ V8s at Christchurch's Powerbuilt International Raceway at Ruapuna Park this weekend, one on Saturday afternoon and two on Sunday.

There is then a break in the Paul Kelly Motor Company race series calendar until the third round of the 2005/06 series at Invercargill's Teretonga Park over the January 14/15 2006 weekend.
