Speed announces airdates for Porsche Rennsport Reunion III
Porsche Rennsport Reunion III brings together an unprecedented gathering of significant Porsche vintage and current racecars and those who have driven them to victory in the world's most famous sports car races.
Held at three-year intervals, the third edition of Porsche Rennsport Reunion returned to Daytona International Speedway the weekend of Nov. 2-4, 2007.
More than just a car show or a racing event, the reunion brings together race cars and drivers from Porsche's past including Derek Bell, Hurley Haywood, Brian Redman, Richard Attwood, and Vic Elford piloting the same cars that made them legends in the racing world years ago. The featured Porsche's at this year's event include the 917, 956 and 962.
This one-hour special, produced by Greg Oldham, Sean Belby and Taylor Rollins of Lingner Group Productions for Speed is a mix of nostalgia, competition and conversations with the personalities that helped shape the Porsche legend and mystique.
The program features rare footage of the Can-Am series and the Roger Penske Porsche 917/10 led team of Mark Donohue and George Follmer and their 1972 championship winning effort against the previously dominant McLaren team.
Bob Carlson, with Porsche Cars North America, details the hugely successful reunion of Penske and Porsche in the American LeMans Series with the Porsche RS Spyder.
The original airdate is Sunday, December 16 at 4 PM, with repeat airings on Monday, December 17 at 2 PM, Saturday, January 12 at 4 PM, and Monday, January 21 at 3 PM. All times listed ET.
