Unless you've been stuck under a rock the past couple years, you know that Rev It Up is an opportunity to flog a brand new Chevrolet around an autocourse for the low price of 50 bucks. Here's how it works; Chevrolet wants gearheads to sample their product and what better way to do that than to provide some high speed driving instruction before turning you loose on a course, where your time will be recorded and matched against other drivers. The top driver in each city wins a prize.
Since the Rev It Up competition attracts professional and semi-professional drivers, the competition will be broken down into categories. If a bunch of ringers show up to win the grand prize, and they have in the past, they'll be put in a suitable category and scored appropriately.
The Rev It Up program, run with Mazda products in the past, is now being conducted under the Chevrolet banner with participants given the opportunity to drive the new line of Chevrolet SS models and the new Corvette.
At the conclusion of the 2006 season (the 2006 schedule is listed below) the driver scoring the most points will win a new Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe. Even if you don't win a prize, can you think of a better way to spend 50 bucks and nice summer afternoon? Let the flogging begin.
The six stops currently scheduled on the 2006 tour are:
- Southern California: July 22-23 - El Toro Marine Base
- Dallas: July 29-30 - Lone Star Park
- Miami: August 5-6 - Hialeah Park Racetrack
- Chicago: August 12-13 - Balmoral Park Racetrack
- New York: August 19-20 - Belmont Park Racetrack
- Washington, DC: August 26-27 - FedEx Field
