Formula 500 drivers Darren Disbury and Paul Ryan are looking to turn recent strong pace into outright victories at Riverview Speedway this Saturday night.
The Dave Jack Paving & Landscaping/Century Batteries sponsored duo impressed at Speedway City with Disbury leading the opening race of the night and Ryan finishing as second highest points scorer after the heats.
Unfortunately, engine problems for Disbury, hindered his chances while Ryan spun in the feature while in second spot ... only to hit by his team-mate!
"It is no use being fast if your not around at the finish," Disbury said.
"We are looking to turn that around this week and ensure we have both cars there at the finish."
Disbury and Ryan will both test their #17 and #19 cars at Riverview Speedway on Thursday night in preparation for Saturday night¹s meeting.
"We think we are now on top of our engine dramas," Disbury said.
"It is important to get it right because there are same major blue ribbon events looming after Christmas."
While Ryan missed the previous Riverview meeting while on duty for the Cat V8 Supercar team in Bathurst, Disbury performed strongly to grab two heat wins and second place in the feature.
For Ryan, with two meetings now under his belt, he is confident of challenging strongly this weekend.
"The car was blindingly fast at Speedway City, especially off the starts, but you don¹t win races by turning the car around in front of on-coming traffic," Ryan said.
"The last run was really disappointing, because we probably threw away a feature win. I was shattered when I was hit after I spun, but I wanted to dig a hole in the track and disappear when I looked up and saw who it was. "I am not going to make that mistake again."
The Dave Jack Paving & Landscaping/Century Batteries team also recently joined forces with Father Christmas for the Salisbury Christmas Pageant. The two cars joined the popular community parade which passed by hundreds of local residents.
"Hopefully we are now in the good books with Santa and he may give us a couple of race wins as a Christmas present," Disbury said.
