ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - Wednesday, April 5, 2000... The Sands Casino Hotel will host the "Stock Car Challenge" every weekend in The Copa Lounge beginning Sunday, April 9, Sands President Al Luciani announced Wednesday.

"Each weekend during the 2000 racing season, the Sands will be home to the largest live motorsports event in the Delaware Valley," Luciani said.

The "Stock Car Challenge" begins with the Spring Challenge April 9 for 10 races through July 1. Race fans will select a team of drivers for each event and accumulate points based on the drivers finishing positions. The top 10 winners each week will receive valuable prizes, and at the end of the 10-week Spring Challenge the top-25 winners will be determined by the Stock Car Challenge Points System. All entry forms must be submitted in person at the Sands.

The "Stock Car Challenge" points system will determine the overall Spring Challenge Champion, with the Grand Prize winner receiving a pair of tickets to the 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup Series Pepsi 400 in Daytona Beach, Florida--including round-trip air, and hotel accommodations.

Jack Stanton, host and executive producer of the weekly motorsports television program Racing Connection, will host the "Stock Car Challenge Race Party" each weekend in the Sands Copa Lounge located on the second casino level. The top 10 weekly winners during the Spring Challenge will be announced every Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. ET on Racing Connection.

"The Stock Car Challenge is absolutely free, offering excitement and great prizes for everyone across the Delaware Valley, plus the thrill of selecting their own race team each weekend," Stanton said. "Al Luciani and the Sands are committed to making the Stock Car Challenge a success, and we look forward to hosting race fans every weekend in Atlantic City at the Sands Race Party. The Stock Car Challenge will follow the NASCAR Winston Cup Series across the country each weekend, and we expect 10 spectacular race weekend events, with terrific prizes to give-away at the Sands Copa Lounge during the Spring Challenge."

Racing Connection is a live, one-hour motorsports television program telecast on cable systems throughout Southern New Jersey every Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. on WWAC TV Channel 53, Atlantic City. Jack Stanton is a member of the National Motorsports Press Association and Eastern Motorsports Press Association and host/executive producer of Racing Connection. His motorsports column, "Runnin' Wide Open" is published every Saturday in the Bridgeton News and Millville News, and is also online at www.jayski.com, www.phillyracing.com, www.racin.net and www.pitside.com.

The Sands Casino Hotel is located at Indiana Avenue and Brighton Park in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Free Sands Cards, and official Stock Car Challenge Entry Forms are available at Sands Promotion Centers on the first and second casino levels and will also be available at the weekly Stock Car Challenge Race Party in the Sands Copa Lounge.
