RIVETT RETURNS FOR REMAINDER OF CLIO CUP SEASON
Double ELF Renault Clio Cup with Michelin champion Paul Rivett is to contest the remainder of the 2010 season with BlueSquare Data/Stancombe Vehicle Engineering.
Paul, from Banstead in Surrey, returned to the popular saloon-car series at North Yorkshire's Croft circuit in June this year where he picked up an impressive second place on his first outing. Now the 31-year-old is to run the remainder of the season alongside team-mate and series regular Matthew Munson (Burnham).
The 2002 and 2004 champion will next race on 21st/22nd August at Silverstone National circuit followed by the World Series by Renault event at the new Silverstone Grand Prix circuit and the final rounds of the year at Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Due to other commitments he won't be able to contest rounds 15 and 16 of the series at Knockhill.
The news comes following Renault's announcement to renew its three-year rolling agreement to remain on the British Touring Car Championship support race package until at least 2013.
Commenting on his return Paul said: "I've been working as Matthew's driver coach all season and although I was planning on racing at World Series by Renault and Brands Hatch, to be out at Silverstone later this month as well is just fantastic. It's all thanks to Matthew and BlueSquare Data for making this possible. In fact, I didn't even know a deal had been struck until last weekend at Snetterton when Matthew explained that I wouldn't be watching him from the pit wall anymore - I'd be on the grid alongside him! I'm hoping to better my performance at Croft and secure some wins for the team and I can't wait to be back in the car again."
Rounds 13 and 14 of the 2010 ELF Renault Clio Cup with Michelin series take place at Northamptonshire's Silverstone National circuit on 21st/22nd August.
