Popular UTE Musters For V8 BRutes Show In 2002

UTE Musters for fans of roadgoing utes will return as a popular trackside entertainment feature of the V8 BRute Muster motor racing series this year.

The musters during the BRutes' inaugural season last year attracted hundreds of enthusiasts and their utes, particularly from country areas.

The enthusiasts also provided rousing support for the Falcon and Commodore V8 BRutes, which turned on spectacular racing action at tracks such as Mount Panorama, Sandown International and the Adelaide and Surfers Paradise street venues.

With the eight-round V8 BRute Muster championship being staged as part of the 2002 PROCAR Championship Series and an official event of the Year of the Outback, the ute musters are expected again to attract big attendances.

They will follow a similar format to last year's, with competitions for utes in seven categories.

Participating ute drivers will be admitted free to tracks on race days with a paying adult passenger and their vehicles will be displayed in special muster areas.

The season will see six ute musters as they follow the V8 BRute series for the first time to Symmons Plains, near Launceston, and Winton and Phillip Island in Victoria.

Further information, including an entry form, will be posted shortly on the official website, http://www.procar.com.au.

The V8 BRute Muster is expected to attract up to 32 Holden and Ford V8 ute drivers this season, including country singing star Adam Brand, who will be in a Falcon XR8.

All rounds will be shown on Speedweek on SBS TV and Fox Sports.
