Team Brute Strength are in damage control mode after severe crashes brought the Series opener in Adelaide to an end.

Both Brute Strength drivers Gavin Harvey and Gary Young were visibly shaken after heavy impact with the wall at turn three. Harvey fared the worst suffering broken ribs and severe bruising but was released from Royal Adelaide after being cleared of any internal injury.

Harvey said, "Apart from being a little stiff I will be looking forward to getting back on track."

The Brute Strength Holdens on the other hand weren't so fortunate. Both cars were completely destroyed upon impact. If not for the combination of Holden product and safety barrier walls the outcome for both drivers could have been a lot worse.

The Brute Strength Holden's performance was never in question all weekend with both Young and Harvey on the pace from the outset. Young recorded the fasted time of the Brute Strength drivers and was placed in the top ten in the first two races.

Young said, "The Brute Strength Holden was very quick and all things going to plan with the re-build we will be looking forward to the two car assault at Symmons Plains in Tasmania."

Team Spokesman Pete Jones said, " Not only is the Holden product far superior to its competition in performance but, also streets ahead in design and safety features with both cars performing exactly to Holden's strict safety standards after heavy contact with the wall."

Brute Strength sponsor Seovic Civil Engineering who is recognized as a world leader in slipform technologies is a strong advocate of the safety, design and precision of safety barrier walls. Seovic crash barriers can be seen at Mt Panorama (see pic), Eastern Creek and Oran Park to name a few.

David Slingsby,Chief Engineering Consultant for Seovic Civil Engineering said, "The safety barrier walls are designed in various shapes and have been crash tested overseas. They have been successfully tested with 36,000kg impacting at 15 degrees at 86km/hr. Unlike non-rigid systems incorporating steel beams or wire ropes, concrete safety barriers generally are not damaged in an impact. Seovic have been constructing crash barriers on roads and racetracks since 1976."

Team Brute Strength have formed what they are calling 'A Coalition of the Willing' to keep its plan for a two car assault on the V8 BRutes Championship Series alive in 2003. Coalition partners include: Phill Munday - Phill Munday's Panel works, Rob Collett - Ultra Tune Service Center Mermaid Beach, Mike Eve - Ultra Tune Service Center Cleveland, Neil Griffith - TNT Race Logistics, John Seovic - Seovic Civil Engineering, Rob Thompson - Classic Model Cars, Bob Wheeldon - Wheeldon's Towing, Peter Murray - Blazer, John Batzloff - Zupps Holden and the entire Brute Strength Race Crew and Support Team. Without this support our race against time would not be possible.
