Coming off of a near-perfect weekend at the Red Bull Global Rallycross season-opening event in Phoenix, the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team looks to stay on form in Round Three of the championship this weekend, June 4, in Dallas. Tanner Foust wants to stay at the front of the field, maintaining his perfect win record from the first two races of the season, while Scott Speed hopes a trouble-free weekend will allow him to make up ground in the championship standings to his teammate. A new venue in Dallas will provide an unknown challenge, as the team’s competitors attempt to match the speed of the series-leading Volkswagen Beetle GRC.

“In Phoenix, we came out swinging and showed that our work in the offseason really paid off,” said Foust before taking to the track in Dallas. “We’re delighted with the speed in the car so far, and will keep working at it to make sure that no one else can catch us!”

The driver of the No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle GRC enjoyed an unprecedented event in Phoenix, setting the quickest time in each of the weekend’s qualifying sessions, and winning all his Heat, Semifinal, and Final races, walking away with the maximum tally of 125 points.

Foust’s teammate, reigning series champion, Scott Speed suffered a mechanical problem in Race One at Phoenix, forcing him to settle for a fifth place finish, but the driver of the No. 41 BFGoodrich Beetle GRC made up for the mid-pack finish, winning each of his Heat and Semifinal races, and finishing second to teammate Foust in Race Two on Sunday. Heading into Dallas, Speed sits second in the points standings, twenty-five marks behind his teammate.

“Considering the problems we ran into in Phoenix, walking away with as many points as we have is a great result,” said Speed. “Tanner showed everyone that the Beetle GRC is the car to beat, so once we have our gremlins sorted, I’m confident that we’ll see the same sort of results.”

The Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team kicked off a string of winning results for the Andretti racing organization in May, culminating in a 1-2 finish at the 100th running of the Indy 500 last weekend. “We were excited to see the winning results from Indy Lights and obviously the huge win at the 500 over the weekend,” said Speed who attended the historic race as a guest of the team. “We’re glad to have kicked off the Andretti winning streak,” added Foust, “and we think we can keep it alive at Dallas on Saturday.”

Round Three of the 2016 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship from Dallas will air LIVE on NBC Sports this Saturday, June 4 at 2:30PM (ET).
