Scott Speed lost a point to Tanner Foust in the first round of Sunday heats, meaning he would need a win in the semifinal to try and regain control of his own destiny. In the final lap of the six-lap shootout, that’s exactly what he did. While Steve Arpin mounted an aggressive defense of the lead, Speed pulled the perfect fake, forcing Arpin to go wide in the dirt hairpin, sneaking to the inside, and eventually completing the pass to take an indispensable semifinal win.
