I never thought that I would ever have to write something like this. When I joined the sport of auto racing it was impressed upon me how dangerous it is. But, I discovered that with training and vigilance that most of the time it was a safe sport. I made friends. Most recently I had become a friend of Jeff Clinton.

Jeff was the quintessential driver/team owner of the American City Racing League Eastern Division. He competed at most events held during the eastern division' brief existence. He participated in driver's meetings. Was very conscientious about his paperwork and prompt with his entries. He was competitive. He also was very giving. He helped a new administrator get through her duties with grace and humor. Jeff was always ready to contribute to the group, either in the fun, the race, or the parties afterward.

It was with great dismay I learned of the tragedy of his death. News report are devoid of details other than he flipped repeatedly and landed upside down. None of the reports tell the person he was. None can tell the talent he had which held the promise of a career in the sport he loved so. The reports mention his children, but do not tell of the father he was. They also talk of his success in business with Grey Eagle distributors, but say nothing of the employer. Nothing I have read to date has captured the person he was.

I join American City Racing League owners, drivers, crew and officials in expressing my sorrow at Jeff's death. I extend my condolences to Jeff's family.
I will never fill the place in my heart.

Meridith Croucher
Administrator
American City Racing League, East
