Action Express Racing driver Frisselle set for 100th series start
While most drivers quickly point to special events or big results as their highlights in the sport, Burt Frisselle’s response might surprise those who don’t know him personally.
Indianapolis, IN - Action Express Racing driver Burt Frisselle looks forward to every race.
But this week, as the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series prepares to make a little bit of history with an encore return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Frisselle will be making a little bit of his own history as he is set to make his 100th Rolex Series start this weekend.
“I really am surprised that it’s already been 100 starts!” said Frisselle. “That for me is exciting and what makes it even more special is that it is taking place at a track that made me dream of racing cars as a child. I truly feel blessed to have had the opportunity to race in 100 Rolex Series races!”
The move from open wheel sprint cars to sports car racing saw Frisselle take on a few different challenges before moving his focus to the emerging Daytona Prototype class in GRAND-AM competition. The Frisselle name has a long history in the sport, with Burt’s father Brad having gone from an upstart privateer to winning the Sebring 12 Hours and scoring the GTU championship with his eponymous race team.

“I have had several special racing moments over the years that I will enjoy in my memory for the rest of my life,“ said Frisselle. “But truly my favorite memory is seeing the Frisselle Brothers' Mini Golf Tournament at Camp Boggy Creek grow from an event that hosted literally just a couple of people in year one to something that now has several regular attendees and hosts multiple new faces every year. I love Camp Boggy Creek and the fact that I have had just a small part in spreading that love, that is the highlight of my career!”
Last year, Frisselle’s career was in transition and he didn’t get the chance to race at the inaugural Brickyard Grand Prix, so Friday’s race will mark his debut on the yard of bricks for his milestone race start.
“To race at Indy will be special,” said Frisselle. “It is a place with so much history and prestige that as a racer you can't help but dream of hopefully kissing the bricks! The fact that I get to race my hundredth with Brian and later in the year share the car for his 100th is the most special aspect of reaching that milestone. We have supported each other through all the good and bad that racing throws at you and always get to return home as best friends!”
Friday’s Brickyard Grand Prix will be broadcast on SPEED starting at 7:30 PM ET.
