Tommy Milner Joins Autohaus Motorsports’ Drivers Taylor and Lester for The Six Hours of the Glen
DELRAY BEACH, Florida, – Autohaus Motorsports’ drivers Jordan Taylor and Bill Lester will be joined by Team Chevy Corvette driver Tommy Milner in the No. 88 Chevy Camaro for this weekend’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of Watkins Glen. This weekend’s race marks the midway point of the season of the 2011 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16, and the team is hopeful to return to the podium for the third race in a row.
Coming off their first win at VIR and following it up with a second place finish at Lime Rock Park earlier this week, Autohaus Motorsports has moved within eight points of the GT Championship lead.
“It feels really great to be in this position,” explains team owner Bob Kirland. “It has taken a lot of hard work and commitment from the whole team to reach this point. We began racing in the Rolex Series in 2008 and had some good finishes, and this season all the hard work has paid off. The support from General Motors, Pratt & Miller and Katech has been instrumental in making it all happen. Jordan and Bill have been incredible behind the wheel, and the crew has been meticulous in the shop with preparation and exceptional during races over the wall. It has all really come together and I’m looking forward to more successes.”
The team is poised to continue its charge for the championship this weekend at the 30th running of The Six Hours of the Glen. They have added the talents of GM Corvette Racing factory driver Tommy Milner to their driver lineup for the six-hour classic. Tommy comes from a racing family, beginning his career karting in 2000. Since then the 25 year old has driven for several factory teams and raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, before joining Corvette Racing for the full 2011 season.
“I'm really looking forward to racing this weekend at Watkins Glen with Jordan, Bill, and the whole Autohaus team,” said Milner. “After their win at VIR and podium at Lime Rock, I feel really good about our chances. As the third driver, my job will be to get up to speed as quick as I can, especially with limited track time before the race, and help keep the momentum that the team has built and put the No. 88 Chevy Camaro up on the podium.”
