Carter and Plumb back to Mid-0hio after long CTSCC break

Following a very long 54 day break in the 2013 CTSCC season, Al Carter and Hugh Plumb and their Eagle B+ Racing Fall-Line Motorsports team are heading to Mid-Ohio for the Diamond Cellar Classic, 5th round of the 2013 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

Al Carter managed his free time during that long break and even if the driver from Greenville, Delaware did not practice behind the wheel of a race car since Atlanta, he spent a great deal of time perfecting his fitness to stay in top shape for Mid-Ohio. Carter is always looking for unique experiences and recently competed in and completed his first "Tough Mudder" in Philadelphia, an experience that he really enjoyed. "Tough Mudder" is an endurance event series in which participants attempt 10-12 mile long military-style obstacle courses. Designed by British Special Forces to test mental as well as physical strength, obstacles often play off of common human fears, such as fire, water, and heights. The organizers encourage teamwork, and many obstacles are purposefully designed so as to be very difficult to complete alone. The events are untimed, but on average only 78% of entrants successfully complete the course.

"I trained and finished my first "Tough Mudder" during the time off from racing," announced Al Carter. "Completing the long course with obstacles such as the "Arctic Enema" should afford me a new sense of toughness."

The Fall-Line Motorsports BMW team came to Mid-Ohio last week and had a constructive test with their M3s to prepare for next Saturday's race. Carter had several good results at Mid-Ohio last year driving in the ALMS and the World Challenge races and scored two podium finishes during the same weekend.

"I am so looking forward to getting back to the races after our long GRAND-AM break between races," said Carter. "My Fall-Line Motorsports team is like my extended family, missing our quality time. Know we're all looking to get our Fall-Line Eagle B+ Racing shirts back on, and find us a good team finish. We had our first top ten of the season at the last race in Atlanta, and had a good test last week at Mid-Ohio. I am really looking forward to Fall-Line Motorsports breaking out for the rest of the season."

Hugh Plumb is very enthusiastic about his No. 45 Eagle Tech - B+ Foundation - Jetset Magazine BMW chances at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The GRAND-AM Racing veteran visited the Mid-Ohio podium four times in three different racing series in his early career. Plumb also knows how to win in Ohio. He tasted victory while he was racing in the World Challenge.

"I look forward to a good race at Mid-Ohio," said Hugh Plumb. "I had a really good test here a week ago learned a lot and hope to take advantage of this coming race weekend. Al Carter and I have had a quick car and have been on top of the time charts but have not been able to transfer this to really good finishes. This is something that I wish to change this weekend with a big finish."

Before the Mid-Ohio race weekend starts, Al Carter and Hugh Plumb will visit the Nationwide Children's hospital in Columbus, Ohio, fourth stop of the "B+ Foundation Fighting Childhood Cancer Tour". This is the third year in a row that Carter and Plumb visit children battling cancer at the Nationwide Children's Hospital. "This will be our third visit to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus so we know the nurses there and the social workers. Hopefully we won't see any kids that we saw before. We've built up a good rapport with the hospital, The B+ Foundation and the racing where we've got our own little community of B+ racing fans, heroes and healthcare providers. It's a cool thing for GRAND-AM too and we thank the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course that donated tickets for the kids' families to attend the race so we hope to welcome some of the families at the track on Saturday."

The Diamond Cellar Classic at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course starts with a promoter test day scheduled for Thursday. First official practice is set for 8:35 AM on Friday and CTSCC GS qualifying is set for Friday at 4:05 PM. The start of the 2.5 hour Diamond Cellar Classic race is set for Saturday, June 15 at 10:35 AM ET. The race will be televised on SPEED TV Sunday, June 23 at 4:00 PM ET.
