Law, Donohue, and Brumos Porsche Wrap Up Competitive Grand American Rolex Series Daytona Test Days

January 11, 2005 (Phoenix, Arizona) - Grand American regulars Darren Law, David Donohue and the Brumos Porsche squad had a successful and productive shakedown run of the #58 Red Bull Brumos Porsche FABCAR Daytona Prototype at this last weekend's Rolex Grand American Test Days at Daytona International Speedway. The traditional Test Days gathering allows teams and drivers to collect much needed setup data on their vehicles prior to the Rolex 24 at Daytona to be held the weekend of February 3-6. Joining Law and Donohue again in this year's Rolex 24 will be European champions Sascha Maassen and Lucas Luhr, making the Brumos driver lineup a formidable one.

The Results

Clear weather throughout the weekend allowed the Rolex series cars maximum track time, and the Brumos squad took full advantage by fielding the #58 car in all eight of the test sessions. The team was able to post a best lap of 1:48.953 at an average speed of 117.629 mph around the 3.56 mile road course that incorporates much of the famed Daytona International Speedway 31 degree oval banking.

"It really is great to get back in the car after a bit of a winter break," said Law. "We made a bunch of changes to the car, and it is really becoming easier to drive and faster. Our quick lap put us just outside the top five for the weekend. With some good reliability and a little more work on the setup, we could be a threat once the 24 hour rolls around.

Strategy

Endurance is of course one of the primary qualities that a car and team tackling the Rolex 24 hour must possess, and Law is clearly aware of this.

"We all know that reliability is going to be the main factor in the 24 as it always is. Having the quickest car is really not going to be as critical at a race like this, and the Brumos team has been working hard to make the car as bullet proof as possible."
