Day Break At Daytona - Alex Job Racing 18 Hours
Daytona Beach, Fla., (Jan. 31, 2010) - The No. 23 Foametix/Battery Tender/Alex Job Racing/Porsche 997 GT3 Cup entry greeted the sunrise running 12th place in GT with six hours remaining in the 48th running of the Grand-Am Road Racing Series Rolex 24 Hour At Daytona. A top ten finish is within sight.
23 and 66 at 18 As the sun began to rise on the The World's Most Famous Beach, the Alex Job Racing team of drivers were laying down laps as fast as the GT leaders. The team overcame an early evening transmission change to make their way back-up the standings. Martin Ragginger and Dominik Farnbacher were tasked with taking the Porsche into the Sunday morning daylight.
"The whole time in the race I have been happy with the car," Ragginger said. "The car is fast and the setup is perfect. It is such a shame that we broke second gear early in the night. I think that is just racing. If it didn't happen we would be fighting for the podium for sure. I think our car is one of the best in the field. I ran the early morning stint from 3:30 p.m. to just before 6:00 a.m. so I did not see the sun. We are still running fast, so we will see what happens."
Farnbacher had the sunrise session. "It was nice, I had a good view of day breaking over the grand stands. I was able to run nice consistent laps. The car is running great. It is the best car out there. I was able to overtake everyone that was in my way. I overtook the leader and the second place car. It is a case of what might have been. We are still pushing. We double stint the tires, so under braking late in the second run on the tires the back gets really loose. I had to go straight at the Bus Stop to avoid spinning two times. It was not a big deal. The tires are good and are able to hold their performance through two fast runs."
